The goal of the Doha Metro is to provide a modern transportation network that connects key destinations in the city of Doha and its suburbs. Most parts of the network are located underground within the city of Doha. The metro has become the cornerstone of the integrated public transportation system in the state of Qatar. From its operational launch in 2019 until the beginning of 2023, the total number of passengers on the Doha Metro has reached a new record, surpassing 100 million passengers.

The metro network includes three out of four planned lines, namely the Red, Gold, and Green lines, with a total of 37 stations. The operation of these three lines was completed in 2020.
